The Confederation of Cancer Biobanks (CCB) hosted by the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) is holding a consultation on standards.
The CCB is a consortium of UK-based organisations involved in the development and use of biobank resources for cancer research that seeks to develop and harmonise standards for biobank and tissue depositaries in order to maintain sample quality and maximise utility for research. It is intended to create formal accreditation scheme for resources that comply with these standards.
Now the CCB is calling for input from organisations and individuals with an interest in cancer and tissue biobanking (including patients who have donated samples and researchers who might use samples and linked information) to provide feedback on draft biobank and data standards.
The closing date for submission is 5th August 2013, with publication of the finalised standards expected in September 2013.
