PHG Foundation has grown out of the Public Health Genetics Unit (PHGU), established in Cambridge in 1997. After ten years in the UK National Health Service, during which time PHGU was funded first by the Cambridge health community and then by the Government’s genetics knowledge park programme, we decided the time was right to launch the Foundation as an independent charity in 2007.
With our origins in one of the world’s most vibrant and productive bioscience clusters, our team has earned a national and international reputation as leaders in the field of public health genomics, with connections in the health, research and policy communities in the UK, Europe, North America, the Far East and Australasia.
