About Us
New Director for PHG Foundation
Dr Hilary Burton, a public health physician, has become Director of the PHG Foundation. Previously Programme Director at the Foundation, Hilary has played a leading role in the development of public health genomics and brings a wealth of experience to the new post of Director, which supersedes the previous position of Chief Executive.
She is looking forward to leading the Foundation in ongoing work to harness the potential of genomics for health and address the associated scientific and societal complexities.
Hilary is pictured with former US president Bill Clinton at the recent Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York, at which she formally presented the PHG Foundation’s commitment to provide governments in low and middle-income countries with tools and data to tackle birth defects in their populations, as part of our framework for action on birth defects programme. Our other leading programme is examining the implications of whole-genome sequencing technologies for health and society.
