Dr Susmita Chowdhury - Project Co-ordinator

Susmita has recently joined the Foundation and is currently involved in the EU-funded ‘COGS’ - Collaborative Oncological Gene-environment Study - focusing on risk modelling and subsequent service implications of hormone related cancers including breast, prostate and ovarian cancer. In addition to developing and managing new projects she writes briefing papers, reports and articles for journals, newsletters and websites.

After completion of her medical education Susmita worked for more than two years as a project research physician in the International Centre for Health and Population Research (ICDDR,B) in Dhaka, undertaking field work with under-served children, women and sex workers giving her experience of protocol development and of data and project managment. In 2008 Susmita received admission for the MPhil in Public Health at the University of Cambridge. Susmita is involved in multiple outside community projects including flood aid programmes, fund-raising, donor-blood collection programmes and the setting up of mobile hospital units.
