Our work

Our mission is making science work for health

We develop policies, processes and infrastructure so that emerging science is used in ways that are:

  • Fast and effective
We bridge the gap between research and practice by accelerating and strengthening the evaluation and implementation of evidence-based technologies in public health and medicine.

  • Fair and responsible
We ensure that genomics and biomedical science are used equitably to improve health, addressing the needs of lower and middle income countries as well as richer economies, and taking into account ethical, legal and social issues.

Current projects

We work on a broad range of projects to deliver our objectives. Major programmes that we’re very excited about include:

Born Healthy
Building better care and prevention of birth defects

Next steps in the sequence
Our report Next steps in the sequence examines the implications of whole genome sequencing technologies for health in the UK

Improving cancer screening
