GRaPH Int
Genome-based Research and Population Health International Network
GRaPH Int is an international network that has been established to promote the goal of achieving the responsible and effective translation of genome-based knowledge and technology for the benefit of population health.
Background
GRaPH Int was established as the result of an international expert workshop held in Bellagio, Italy, in April 2005 with funding from the Rockefeller Foundation. The background to the establishment of GRaPH Int is set out in the report from the Bellagio workshop:
Genome-based research and population health. Report of an expert workshop held at the Rockefeller Foundation Study and Conference Center, Bellagio, Italy, 14-20 April 2005
A paper published in Genetics in Medicine also sets out the rationale for GRaPH Int and the strategy for work in public health genomics:
Burke W, Khoury MJ, Stewart A, Zimmern RL; Bellagio Group The path from genome-based research to population health: development of an international public health genomics network. Genet Med. 2006 Jul;8(7):451-8.
GRaPH Int was officially launched in June 2006 at the international conference Genomics and Public Health, in Montreal Canada.
GRaPH Int administration
An administrative hub for GRaPH Int is funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada and located at the Centre de recherche en droit public (CRDP) at the University of Montreal.
