Philippa has an MA in Natural Sciences from Christ’s College, Cambridge, which she followed with a PhD on gene expression in HIV-1 at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology. Discovering that she preferred writing to experiments, she worked first in biomedical intelligence in the pharmaceutical industry before moving to science communication and policy development.
As External Affairs Director she provides strategic leadership and oversight for all external engagement and marketing, as well as insight and opinion on scientific developments and political issues related to health policy. Philippa leads a team that provides cross-cutting support for our experts, from design and delivery to production and promotion of our knowledge products, intelligence and events, including digital marketing and social media activity
She is particularly concerned with developing strategic partnerships and identifying opportunities to add value and impact to the Foundation’s thought leadership and work developing and championing health service and public policy. This includes oversight of public and parliamentary affairs, not least supporting the All Party Parliamentary Group on Personalised Medicine.
