Dr Pete Mills

Dr. Pete Mills is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the PHG Foundation in its mission to make science work for health. He works closely with the wider team and external parties to navigate the intersection of emerging science, ethics, and public policy.

For more than 25 years Pete has made significant contributions in the fields of regulation, policy making and ethical advice. As a former Associate Director at the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, he provided critical advice on the ethical implications of advances in genetics and biotechnology. Previously, he led the Secretariat of the Human Genetics Commission, advising UK health and science ministers on the societal impacts of genetic developments. Pete’s extensive involvement in national and international bioethics committees, including the Council of Europe and UNESCO, underscores his influence in shaping ethical standards in genetics.
