Reactions to genomic health data - clinENCODE project

The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) has announced plans for a new study to look at how people react to learning their genetic risk factors for diseases. The clinENCODE project will involve sequencing sections of DNA from 400 healthy volunteers and analysing it for polymorphisms associated with predisposition towards certain diseases. Participants, who will also be extensively tested for other indicators of health such as blood pressure and white blood cell counts, will be informed of these results and their reactions to the health-related genetic information studied.
