Dr Eric M. Meslin

 

Dr. Meslin is Senior Fellow of the PHG Foundation, Adjunct Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University Toronto, and Visiting Scholar at Centre of Genomics and Policy at McGill University.

During his diverse and distinguished 40-year career, Dr Meslin has held a wide range of academic and executive leadership positions including Founding Director of the Indiana University Center for Bioethics, Bioethics Research Director of the Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications (ELSI) program in the early years of the Human Genome Project, Executive Director of the U.S. National Bioethics Advisory Commission, and most recently as President and CEO of the Council of Canadian Academies.

Dr. Meslin has been an advisor to the OECD, WHO, UNESCO, ELIXIR-Europe, Genome Canada, and UK Biobank. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, and The Hastings Center. He is also a Chevalier de l’Ordre Nationale du Mérite (Knight of the National Order of Merit) for contributions to French bioethics policy.
